Zetta Valera (Val) Woolner passed away on July 24, 2014 at Kindred Healthcare in Rawlins, after a four year battle with cancer. She was 52. Val was born on January 6, 1962 in Fallon, NV to Fay Guinard, She found herself growing up working ranches in the Lander, Riverton and Dubois areas. Over those years, she was joined by five exciting, unpredictable brothers and sisters. Eventually, she stopped in Jeffrey City long enough to graduate from high school in 1981. While in high school, Val met Johnny Woolner. She refered to him as, "the southern boy from across the fence". They moved to Wichita Falls, TX and she fell in love all over again, this time with the state of Texas. They were married on May 19, 1982. The couple welcomed their first daughter in November of 1982. They would continue to welcome daughters again in 1984, 1990, and 1997, until they had reached four girls and decided that Johnny was on his own as the sole male in the family. Due to the couple's jobs, in the early years, the family lived in Arizona and Alaska. They moved back to Texas in 1994, where Val gardened, grew peach trees and dreamed of one day owning miniature goats. They returned to Wyoming in 1998 and settled in Rawlins in 2005. Val loved her family and got them all together as often as possible. She loved going camping, vacations to Texas and birthday/holiday dinners with as many people as she could fit around the table. Val is survived by her husband of 32 years, Johnny Woolner (Rawlins), daughters, Candi Woolner (Rawlins), Jenny Woolner (Rawlins), Kayla Woolner (Riverton) and Lilly Woolner (Rawlins), her mother, Faye Guinard (Jeffrey City), 3 sisters, 2 brothers, 7 grandchildren and many other family members all over Wyoming. She is preceded in death by both maternal grandparents, an infant son, and her beloved childhood horse Alibi. Cremation has already taken place. A memorial service has been scheduled for August 30, 2014 at Washington Park in Rawlins starting at 1:00 p.m. Everyone touched by Val is invited to attend, bring a dish for a potluck meal, and share in the celebration of her life. The family asks that everyone wear bright colors and maybe something purple, Val's favorite color.
