William Vance

William James Vance, Jr. (Jim) William James Vance, Jr., passed away on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 surrounded by family in Grand Junction, CO. Jim was born to William and Coralee Vance on December 25, 1923, in Dixion, Mississippi. Jim was the youngest sibling of nine children. He worked many years for Seismograph Service Corp. as a permit man where he was able to travel around the country and live in many places with his family. Jim married the love of his life, Martha Vigil, on December 15, 1948 in Philadelphia, Mississippi. Jim learned to cook many delicious meals by working in the kitchen with his momma since he was young. Jim was famous for many of his meals including fried chicken and Grandpa's made from scratch pancakes which all his kids and grandkids thoroughly enjoyed. Jim will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandpa, and a friend to all. He will be deeply missed by his family and all that knew him. Jim loved traveling, driving his Buick LeSabres and his old blue Chevy pickup, watching the news, talking about the good old days, listening to Bluegrass music, cooking, being around animals (and sneaking them treats), eating ice cream, going to the Senior Centers, and most of all being with his family. Jim was also a devoted Christian and loved his faith. He went to church faithfully, read his bible, sang the gospel hymns, and prayed before every meal and every night. Jim was preceded in death by his wife Marth Vance, parents, siblings, and great-granddaughter Sydney Ward. Jim is survived by his daughters, Sherry Beedle-Hahn (William) of Rawlins; Coralee (Ed) Espinoza of Delta, CO; Kerry (Eddie) Martinez of Missoula, MT; Michele (Brad) O'Melia of Green River, WY; and Melissa (Bert) Herrera of Rawlins, WY. One son, Butch (Debbie) Vance of North Pole, AK. Sister-in-laws, Dorthy Garcia of Riverton, WY; Delcy Moulder of Rawlins, WY; Ida Madrid of Colorado Springs, CO; and Brother-in-law, Robert (Viola) Roybal of Rawlins, WY. Grandchildren, Jessie Martinez Jr. (Jan), Timmy (Toni) Martinez, Heather Taylor, Chadwick Vance, Ericka (Angel) Gomez, Gianna (Josie) Garcia, Keko (Jolene) Espinoza, Jennifer (Matt) Stalcup, Rachel (Kevin) Plenger, Jason (Kim) Martinez, Madori (Josh) Ward, Chase O'Melia, Shay O'Melia, Amanda (KC) Ramsey, Joshua Herrera, and Keona Herrera. Great-Granchildren, Joclyn Martinez, Jerick Martinez, Austin Young, Ashely (Tyrel) Smith, Jazmine (Sam) Noel, Nathaniel Gomez, Benjamin Gomez, Gabe Gomez, Randen Espinoza, Damien Espinoza, Matthew Stalcup, Emily Stalcup, Korbin Plenger, Keaton Ward, Alex Ramsey, Jaden Ramsey, Lucas James Medina, and Josiah Medina. Great-Great Grandchildren, Brynn'Lee Noel, Angel Noel, and Sofia Espinoza. Nieces, Suzette (Rick) Durden, Vicki (Randy) Moulder, and Terri (Mike) McHugh; nephew, Gene Vance and many in-laws, nieces and nephews. A funeral is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 29, 2018 at the First Southern Baptist Church in Rawlins WY. Pallbearers are Jessie Martinez Jr., Timmy Martinez, Nathaniel Gomez, Jerick Martinez, Chase O'Melia, Shay O'Melia, Joshua Herrera, and LJ Medina. Honorary pallbearers are Chadwick Vance, Jason Martinez, Austin Young, Benjamin Gomez, Gabe Gomez, Korbin Plenger, Keaton Ward, Josiah Medina, and Angel Noel.
