William J. "Bill" Ashline, 65, of Rawlins, Wyoming, passed away peacefully at his home on November 14, 2015, after a long battle with skin cancer. A service to celebrate Bill's life will take place on November 21, 2015, at 11:00am at the Jeffrey Center in Rawlins. Eric Baxter of Riverton will officiate. Honorary Pallbearers will be Tyler Ashline, Mike Follum, Michael Yarusinsky, Jerry Dalpe, George Moore, John Little, Steve Law, Austin Hoffman, Nick Howell, and Tyler Harris. Attendees are encouraged to wear pink, Bill's favorite color, and to come prepared to share great stories about Bill! Bill was born on July 27, 1950, in Bristol, Connecticut, to Lewis and Constance Ashline. Bill graduated from Plainville High School in 1968. Between 1968 and 1970 he pursued further education at the School of Hard Knocks in Vietnam, courtesy of the United States Marine Corp. On May 27, 1984, Bill made the best decision of his life when he married Denise Becker, a naïve math teacher from Rawlins, in "Mistake City", Nevada. They later welcomed two beautiful children, Tyler in 1985, and Tara in 1988. Bill moved to Greely, Colorado in 1978 to work for Colorado Interstate Gas (CIG). After a few years of traveling various places working for CIG he ultimately landed a position as a well tender in Wamsutter, Wyoming. Bill continued to work for CIG until 2000 when he took an early retirement package. After a few months of watching too much daytime television, Bill took a position with the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) as a petroleum engineering technician. He continued to work for the BLM until 2007 when he retired, again. Some of Bill's favorite things were a good joke, a successful prank, memorizing useless facts, and being a private pilot. He was light-hearted and often reminded others not to take life too seriously. Bill will be remembered as a loving husband, father, friend, and a teller of cheesy jokes! Bill and his humor will be greatly missed by his wife, Denise of Rawlins; a son, Tyler (Kandace) Ashline of Rawlins; a daughter, Tara (Mike) Follum of Clinton, MS; a sister, Jean (Scott) Hall of Middletown, CT; a great-nephew, Michael Yarusinsky of Rawlins; three grandchildren William Ashline, Liberty Ashline, and Adelyn Follum, and many close cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and his nephew, Glenn Dekorte. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made in Bill's memory to Ribbons of Hope (PO Box 613, Rawlins, WY, 82301) to help other individuals in Carbon County fighting against cancer.
