Wilfrido (Willy) Valentino Martinez

Willy Martinez, resident of Rawlins Wyoming, passed away on 6 December 2022 at the Rawlins Wellness and Rehabilitation Center at the age of 88.

Willy was born October 7^th, 1934 in Mora New Mexico. He moved to Rawlins in 1944. Willy worked at several places in several different roles before hiring on with the Bureau of Land Management in 1963 and working there until retirement in 1994.

Willy married the girl of his dreams in 1957 and has been married to Irene Anna Belle Trujillo-Martinez for over 65 years. Together Willy and Irene had three children: Deval, Neal, and Judy. During the early years of family life, Willy also volunteered for and served in the Wyoming National Guard for three years.

Willy was an avid outdoorsman who loved to fish and hunt. He manufactured much of his own camping equipment. Put Willy outside in the forest with a cup of coffee and he was in heaven. Put Willy in a coffee shop with some friends and the conversation would go on for hours.

Willy will be greatly missed by his wife of 65 years (Irene), his children (DeVal, Neal, Judy), his daughters and son-in law (Margaret, Cindy, Craig).

Willy had a healthy band of grandchildren to include: Reggie, DeNeil, DeVal jr, Amanda, Nyle and Tori.

Great Grandchildren include: Kobe, Joey, Landon, Madison, Shane, Emma, Ella, Valentina, Mila, Carson and Mateo

Willy has brothers David, Jessie, DeBari and Seymore living in Rawlins, Charles in Fort Collins, and sister Ernestine in California.

Willy was preceded in death by his parents, Max and Phyllis, his sister Gloria Steele, brothers Max, Alfonso, and Jimmy.

A service will be conducted at the Catholic church on Tuesday the 13^th of December at 10 o’clock AM.
