Wanda Lee Hood, 65, of Wamsutter, died Jan. 28, 2012, at Memorial Hospital of Carbon County. She was born Aug. 18, 1946, in Toronto, Kan., to her parents Hazel Rose and Clarence Owen Johnston. She spent her childhood in Colorado and then moved with her family to the Ogallala, Neb., area in 1964. On May 24, 1985, she married Francis L. Hood. She lived and worked in Ogallala for more than 37 years. She worked many years at TRW and also as a cook at Ogallala Community Hospital. She then retired due to her health. In 2003 her husband died and she continued to live in Ogallala until spring 2007 when she moved to Wamsutter with her daughter's family. She will be remembered as a special woman, impacting many lives with her caring touch and thoughtfulness. Some of her hobbies included working in her rose garden, sewing, quilting, cooking, supporting the family, racing and exploring the Red Desert and Snowy Range areas. She had a special place in her heart for her two poodles, Abby and Peaches. In the summer of 2011, she went on a trip with her daughter and friend. They visited family and friends across Wyoming, Nebraska, Kansas, and South Dakota. This gave her the opportunity to spend time with many of those who loved her. She is survived by her brother, Owen Johnston and special friend Roberta Patterson of Wamsutter; sisters, Fonda (Joe) Nesvara of Ogallala Neb., Connie (Bob) Hood of Sioux Falls, S.D., Linda (Dan) Denbo of Holyoke, Colo.; daughter, Brenda Lee and husband Dave C. Wolfe Jr., of Wamsutter; granddaughter, Amanda Kaylene and husband Geophil Brown; grandson, David C. Wolfe III and fiancée Michelle Lyon.; granddaughter-in-law, Mysti MacDonald; great-grandchildren, Taylor, Bradlee, Hunter, Carter and Koreena, all of Rawlins; stepson, Tracy (Laurie) Hood; and grandchildren, Dakota and Austin of Ogallala, Neb. She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis L. Hood, and parents, Hazel and Clarence Johnston.
