Steven Jaramillo

November 8, 1961 — December 20, 2021

Steven Louis “Tuna” Jaramillo, age 60 of Rawlins, Wyoming passed away suddenly while in Missoula, Montana on Monday, December 20, 2021.

Steven was born in Rawlins on November 8, 1961, to Louis R. and Louise Ester (Cruz) Jaramillo. He was raised in Rawlins and graduated from Rawlins High School in 1980. After finishing high school, Steven moved to Wamsutter where he went to work for Amoco Production Company for eight years as a production operator.  After he was transferred to the Granger office in Granger, WY, he became an automation technician. After BP purchased Amoco, Steven remained with the BP America Production Company and retired in 2018. For the past two years, and until his passing, he worked for the Department of the Interior with the Bureau of Land Management as a Petroleum Engineer Technician.

In 1989, Steven married Karri and together they had 3 sons, Steven, Kevin and Kyle. After their marriage ended, Steven moved back to Rawlins, purchased a home, and married a few more times. Being back in Rawlins, Steven was able to coach youth sports and it made it easier for his boys to be involved in everything from wrestling to football. Steven’s coaching attitude was always uplifting and positive and he influenced many young lives through coaching. Steven married Elaine (Johnson) on February 29, 2016.

Steven has a passion for cars and motorcycles. Over the years, he has been a member of auto racing clubs, and raced motocross, superstock class, IMCA modifieds. He was the proud owner of a Winston Cup Racecar.

Steven was a person who was accepting of others, non-judgmental, down to earth with a somewhat warped sense of humor that attracted people to him. He was always involved in some kind of DIY project at his home, always wanting to change this or do that. His enjoyment of travel, rides on his Harley with his wife and the enjoyment he got out of the minions will never be forgotten.

Steven was proud to be a descendant of Kit Carson and his wife Josefa Jaramillo. He is survived by his wife, Elaine of Rawlins, WY; three sons, Steven and his wife Katelyn of Cheyenne, WY, Kevin and his fiancé Britney of Casper, WY and Kyle and his wife Sarah of Rawlins, WY; four grandchildren, Jordyn, Liam, Zoey and Koe; and one brother, Adelmo Jaramillo and his wife Colleen of Petaskey, Michigan; three nieces, Brittany, Delaney and Erin. He was preceded by his parents.

He will be greatly missed and loved. His motto was "you should always have a plan".
