Stephen Safford

Stephen "Steve" Lee Safford, 77, was called home to be with the Lord on March 16, 2018. He passed peacefully in his home. Steve was born on Jan 23, 1941 to Lee Ashton and Doris Elaine "Darner" Safford in Glendale, CA. He attended and graduated from schools in Glendale, CA. In the early 1960's, he met Avanell Helen Morgan, the love of his life. They moved to Rawlins, WY in August of 1973 from Elk Grove, CA. They married on June 6, 1978 in Las Vegas, Nevada and honeymooned in Hawaii. They were blessed with 6 amazing sons. Steve owned SL Safford Painting & Drywall for over 50 years. Steve retired from drywall just a few short years ago, but didn't sit still for long. He started SW Taxi Service with his new life partner, Wanda Ferguson. Steve was an avid hunter, fisher and trapper. He loved spending time at "camp" with his family and friends. Steve loved to arrowhead hunt and ride his 4-wheeler. Steve enjoyed making his own bullets, doing work in his shop, restoring his old truck and more than anything visiting with friends. Steve is survived by his sons, Lance Safford, Robert "Lee" (Sandra) Safford, Shawn (Terrie) Safford and Aaron Safford; sisters, Anne Blinn and Dorothy "Doty" Mathis; brother, Leigh "Rocky" Safford; daughter-in-law, Denise Safford; 10 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Steve will join in heaven his parents, Ashton & Doris Safford; his loving wife, Avanell Safford; brothers, Fred and Robin Safford; son, Stephen "Kent" Safford; and step-son, Ronnie Curry. A Celebration of Life will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at the Jacoby Funeral Home, 702 W. Walnut St., Rawlins, Wyoming.
