Stanley James

Stanley LeRoy James, 77, of Rawlins, passed away in his home located in Cheyenne on July 31, 2016. Stan was born July 26, 1939 in Jackson Hole to Hazel Shinkle James and Jesse James. Stan was employed by Wyoming State Penitentiary for 23 years. He started as a correctional officer and with many high rankings he retired in 1995 as a Major and head of security. During Stan's life he enjoyed hunting with his family and friends. He spent every chance he got traveling to multiple locations, such as Alaska and Canada to fish. He also loved coaching his son's baseball games, playing soft ball, camping, and going to Shinkle Family Reunions. Stan was an avid Wyoming sports fan and loved going to football and basketball games. Although he had many hobbies, his true passion was his family. He always knew when someone was down, and has a joke or funny saying to brighten their day. After meeting the love of his life at age 14, Stan James married Irene Dermer on February 29, 1958. They married in Jackson Hole and became parents of Roxie, Randy, Rodney, and Renee. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Irene James; Randy and Barbara James, Rodney James, and Renee James Archuleta. Grandchildren; Samuel Biss and significant other Josie Mitchell, Jessica and Jerrod Bays, Joe and Lindy James, Shilo and Jonathan Todd, Mariah Archuleta and significant other Nate Morgan, Katrina James, Karissa and Charley Jones, and Keenan James. Great Grandchildren; Marley and Kinsey Biss, Payton, Piper, and Preslie Bays, Jhett James, Avianna Todd, Miranda and Josh Mitchell, and Devina, Janae, Addi, and Pajia Morgan. As well as his brothers and sisters Roberta, Donnie and Marilyn, Judy, and Richard and Gwen. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Roxie James Biss; brothers Benny and Ronnie; and Sister Margret. Services will be held Friday at 2:00 p.m. on August 5, 2016 at First Southern Baptist Church: 2005 Darnley Road, Rawlins, WY 82301. Everyone is invited to a reception that follows. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to Stan and Irene's church Agape Baptist: 210 E 20th Street Cheyenne, WY 82007.
