Memorial services for former Saratoga resident Shawn Renae (Garretson) Janson, 49, will be conducted Friday, August 26, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. in the Valley Chapel at the Saratoga Cemetery. Teense Willford will be performing the service, with Carbon County Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. An additional memorial service will be held in Brush, Colo. on Monday, Aug. 29 at 2:00 pm at the Calvary Assembly of God Church in Brush, Colo., with Pastor Chris Russell presiding. Shawn passed away from a heart attack on Monday, August 15 in Ft. Morgan, Colo., where she resided the past nine years. Born July 11, 1967 in Rawlins, Wyo. to Ronald Virgil and Joyce Irene (Buckendorf) Garretson, she attended school in Saratoga since kindergarten and graduated from Saratoga High School in 1985. Shawn graduated from Casper College in 1998, with an Associate of Applied Science in Drafting & Design Technology. Her professional career included working as a cabinet designer and sales associate in Casper, Wyo. for Sutherlands and as a sales representative for Bloedorn Lumber in Ft. Morgan, Colo., where she was currently employed. As an adult, she lived in Denver City, Tex.; Glenrock, Wyo.; Casper, Wyo.; Ida Grove, Iowa; and Ft. Morgan, Colo. Shawn was a true patriot and was very proud that her boys served in the military. She was an avid rock hunter and collector of river rocks, and she enjoyed the outdoors and riding horses. Other hobbies included scrapbooking and working on an assortment of craft projects. Shawn had a beautiful smile and an infectious laugh, and she enjoyed young children. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends and customers. Survivors include her parents, Ron and Joyce Garretson of Saratoga; sons Eric Dwayne Duncan (Brittany Batchelor) of Casper and Dylan Lane Janson (Shawnee Corbin) of Longview, Tex.; three grandchildren: Marshal Tyler Duncan, Breanna Lane Janson and David Wyatt Janson; and one sister, Cindy Garretson-Weibel and husband Clay Weibel of Cheyenne and two nieces, Brook and Cassidy Weibel. She is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her grandparents Virgil and Elinor Garretson and George and Frieda Buckendorf. Cremation has taken place. Carbon County Funeral Home has established a website for an expression of memories. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Shawn Garretson Janson Memorial Fund c/o Bank of the West, Box 1650, Saratoga, WY 82331 or dropped of at any Bank of the West location.
