Betty Sharron Dexter, 89, of Rawlins, Wyoming passed away on Tuesday, February 18, 2025. She was born March 23, 1935 in Phoenix, AZ to parents Hughie and Frances V. Wetmore. She moved to Rawlins with her family in April 1938 when her father went to work building the Seminole Dam. Sharron joined the LDS Church in 1949 with her siblings and remained a devoted follower until her death. She began working for Rendles Drug while in high school. She graduated from Rawlins H.S. in 1953. After High School and until her marriage she worked for Mountain Bell Telephone.
Sharron married Art Dexter on April 5, 1955 in Salt Lake City, UT at the LDS Temple. They had three children, Sherrill, Stacey, and John. She worked at the Mountain View and Sinclair schools for 26 years. She loved to sew and was an excellent seamstress. She even made both of her daughters’ wedding dresses. She baked and decorated cakes, including wedding cakes for many friends and family.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Art Dexter; daughter, Stacey France; son-in-law, Gordon France; parents, Hughie and Frances Wetmore; sister, Winona Tucker and brother, Warren “Bud” Wetmore.
Survivors include her children, Sherrill (Gregg) James of Casper, WY, Linzi Barenz of Cheyenne, WY; five grandchildren, Chadd (Mindy) France of Williston, ND, Brad (Nichole) France of Rock Springs, WY, Wes (Alyssa) France of Oklahoma City, OK, Jessica (Bryce) Coffendaffer of Salt Lake City, UT and Garrett (Trich) James of Green River, WY; eleven great grandchildren, Raymond (Katie) Stocks, Taisa Stocks, Tailor France, Hailey France, Emersyn France, Gentry James, BettyAnne France, Watson France, Owen Coffendaffer, Austin Coffendaffer, a baby girl due in August and special friend, Michelle Sidun.
Visitation will take place on February 24, 2025 at 10:00 am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Rawlins. Funeral Service to follow at 11:00 am.
