Santiago Moses Baca, 85, of Rawlins, passed away on September 20, 2013. He was born September 10, 1928, in San Luis, CO, to parents Josie (Baca) and Gus Romero. Santiago served in the U.S. Army from March 26, 1947 until his honorable discharge on January 26, 1950. He is remembered fondly by his family as a man who loved to fish, hunt and spend time with his family. He was also an avid Denver Broncos fan. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Patsy Baca; children: Rose (Hector) Ochoa, Patsy Garcia, Donna (Jose) Esquivel, Michael (Melissa) Baca, Anthony (Patricia) Baca, Maria (Alfredo) Olivas, Charles (Brenda) Baca, Albert (Geneva) Baca, Theresa (Mark) O'Brien, and Ramona Garcia; 28 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and siblings: Nash (Mary Alice) Garcia, Rose (Eric) Erickson, Cordie Pacheco, and Cecilia Ochoa. A Wake Service with recitation of the Rosary will take place on Wed. September 25, 2013, at 7:00 p.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Rawlins. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thurs. September 26, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Father Sam Hayes will be the Celebrant. Pallbearers will be Victor Ochoa, Rosendo Chavez, Jose VanEtten, Octavio Martinez, Anthony Baca, Jr., Charles Baca, and Albert Baca, Jr. Interment with military honors will follow in the Rawlins Cemetery.
