Sandra G. Kulmus, 81, passed away on July 30, 2022, in her home with her family at her side. She was a 4th generation Carbon County resident and is acclaimed for the growth of 5th, 6th and 7th generation families brought up in Rawlins, Carbon County, Wyoming. Her Grandmother, Minnie Francine Wilkes, was born and raised in the Snake River Valley near Dixon/Savery, WY, later moving to Rawlins.
Sandy loved being outdoors in the great Wyoming countryside enjoying her cabin in the Sierra Madres in Carbon County, riding with family and friends her 4-wheeler and when younger her snowmobile, crocheting snowflakes and afghans, and teaching her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren how to play to win at cribbage. Mom also had an incredible green thumb growing house plants.
Sandy and Bubi got their start as young entrepreneurs in 1962, running the Dreamland Motel that was later changed to Limeliter Motel. Their next project was rehabilitating a Union 76 gas station next to their motel, opening T’Keg Spirits & Saloon in 1977. They owned and operated their businesses their entire careers. It brought her great pleasure hosting holiday meals at T’Keg for her customers that didn’t have family close by. Her current customers will especially miss her Almond Roca candy gifts she made each Christmas.
She will be greatly missed by her husband of 64+ years Bubi Kulmus, daughter Marla (Jon) Brown, sons Mark (Diane) and Matthew Kulmus of Rawlins; grandchildren Cory (Teresa) and Sandra Brown, Marquard and Madelynn Kulmus, and Zach (Bobbie) Maes; great grandchildren Talon Hall, Ian & Samantha Brown, Lena Greene, Jayden Miller, and Logan, Isabella and Lincoln Maes; brother Dick and niece Cheri’ Glenn of Casper, sister and brother in-laws Betty & John Klingseisen, and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Sandy is proceeded in death by her mother, Susie Nadine Masson, nephew, Michael Glenn and step-father Stan Masson.
Her life’s celebration will take place on Saturday, August 27, 2022, 11 A.M., at T’Keg Spirits & Saloon, 307 E. Cedar St., Rawlins, WY.
Memorial donations may be made in her name to T’Keg for the Cure, Best Home Health & Hospice in Rawlins, or the Meredith & Jeannie Ray Cancer Center in Laramie.
