Rosaleen "Rosie" Ferguson

Rosaleen “Rosie” (McCann) Ferguson, resident of Rawlins Wyoming, passed away after a brief illness on January 20, 2022 at the Central Wyoming Hospice & Transitions at the age of 79 years.

Rosie was born September 4, 1942 in Belfast, Northern Ireland to parents William and Jospehine McCann.  She attended St. Malachy’s Catholic School in Belfast, and after high school she attended Our Lady of Mercy Convent also located in Belfast before immigrating to America in 1961 to Chicago.  She worked at Elco Hillcrest lamp shade factory in Woodstock, IL for many years.

In 1979 Rosie and her then husband John relocated to Sheridan, WY with their two children, David and Margaret.  After her marriage to John ended, Rosie met and married the love of her life, Robert Ferguson.  They were married for 25 years before he passed away. Bob and Rosie had one daughter, Melissa.

Rosie enjoyed spending time with family, especially her children and grandchildren.  Rosie was eager to help with her children’s school functions and support them in their athletic pursuits.  Rosie was always the first one to volunteer her time. Rosie also enjoyed knitting, cooking for friends and family, visiting with her many friends, and watching football. Rosie never met a stranger, she lit up every room she entered with her dynamic personality, beautiful smile, and contagious laugh.

She will be sadly missed by her children Margaret (Harry) Massie of Dublin, OH and Melissa (Travis) Donough of Rawlins, WY.  She will also be greatly missed by her 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren:  Brandon (Kayla) Storer with Audrey & Dylan of Laramie, WY; Zachary Roberts of Cheyenne, WY; David & Devon Massie of Dublin, OH; Emily, McKinley, Kaitlyn, & Jacob Donough of Rawlins, WY.

Rosie will be greatly missed by numerous nieces, nephews, and family friends Donna Pipher and Brandy Tucker.

Rosie was preceded in death by her parents William & Josphine McCann, her husband Robert Ferguson, her son David Roberts, and her 16 siblings including her twin sister Margaret Selchow.

A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, January 27, 2022 at 4:00 pm at the Jeffrey Center in Rawlins, WY. A reception will follow the service and all are invited to attend.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a children’s charity such as St. Jude, Ronald McDonald House, or a charity of your choice, because Rosie had a deep passion for sick children.
