Roland Gilder Dale, affectionately known as Bamie with his friends, was born in Carbon Hill, Alabama on October 9, 1923. He was the seventh of eleven children born to the late William Thomas Dale and Mary Ellen Harris Dale. In 1929, the family relocated to Rawlins, WY. Roland spent his early years working hard to help provide for his family, ensuring that his younger brothers were able to complete their college educations. Roland graduated from Rawlins High School in 1944 and immediately enlisted in the Army. Roland served in WWII from 1944 to 1946 in the South Pacific Theater as a Gunner in the Army Air Corp. When Roland returned home, he went to work for the Sinclair Oil Refinery as an operator and continued with Sinclair until his retirement, 40 years later. Roland married the late Joyce Ann Strimple on June 29, 1957. Roland will forever be remembered by his three beloved children, Linda, John and Mary Kay, his devoted brother Louis Dale, caring in-laws, treasured grandchildren and great-grandchildren along with countless other friends and family who were blessed to know him. Roland was avid horseman, and a jovial conversationalist who enjoyed sharing a cup of coffee and a good story. Roland touched the lives of many people with his warm smile and generosity and maintained his trademark sense of humor until the very end.
