Robert “Bob” C. Umberger, age 75, passed away peacefully at his home in Hanna, Wyoming surrounded by the ones he loved on December 31st, 2023. Bob was born on April 16th, 1948, in Medford, Oregon to Sam and Ione (Elrod) Umberger.
He was 1 of 4 children (Roy, Bonnie and Micheal). Bob graduated from Enterprise High School in Redding California in 1966.
In October of 1969, in Riverton, WY while working at a sawmill, he met & married Karen Kay Moorman. To this union, four children were born– Patrick, Tina, Robin & Kevin.
The family then moved to Rawlins, Wy where he worked for Flint Drilling, pursuing his career as an oilfield driller. Following that the family moved to Hanna, Wy where Bob worked at the Arch Mineral coal mine until 1989 when the family moved to Carlin, Nevada where he continued his career as a directional driller & down hole blaster (Blaster Bob) at Barrick Gold strike Mines. In 1997 he retired back to Hanna, WY.
When he was not working to provide for his family, Bob enjoyed any outdoor activity. Trapping, Gold Panning, rockhounding, riding around on his ATV, scouting and spending time with family & friends.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents Sam & Ione, his brother Roy, and his wife Karen.
He is survived by his wife Liana (Bunny) Claymore-Umberger of Wyoming: brother Michael Umberger, wife Linda of Florida; Son Pat Umberger, wife Carrie of Virginia; Daughter Tina Baxter, husband Rial of Arizona; Daughter Robin Umberger, husband JJ Spencer of Rawlins; Son Kevin Umberger of Rawlins; Son Chris Claymore, wife Kimberly of Oregon. Numerous grandchildren- Robert Ray, Calie Jo, Jesse Allan, Cheryl Ann, Courtney Kay, Curtis Lee, Casi Rae, Dylan Micheal, Savanna Elaine, Johnathan Robert, Cody James, Taylor Nicole, Bradley Robin, Aspen Mary, Addy Liana & Sage Beth. Two Great Granddaughters- Karen Kay Elizabeth & Michelle Elaine.
As per his wishes no memorial will be held. The family appreciates all who loved Bob, and wishes to extend our sympathies to them all.
