Richard M. "Dick" Nealon, 85, of Rawlins, passed away Sept. 23, 2012. Visitation with recitation of the Rosary will take place on Wed. Sept. 26, at 7:00 p.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Rawlins. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thurs. Sept. 27, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with Fr. Sam Hayes as the Celebrant. Interment will follow in the Rawlins Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Adam Penland, Zach and Noah Crank, TJ Forwood, Spencer Mousseau, and Alan Krysl. Dick was born Aug. 1, 1927, in Greeley, NE to parents Anna G. (Lacy) and Francis J. Nealon. His family moved to Rawlins in 1936, when he was five years old. At the age of 15, he lied about his age to hire on with Union Pacific Railroad, riding his bicycle calling crews to work. Immediately following graduation from Rawlins High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served his country until his honorable discharge in 1947. He then returned to Union Pacific, where he spent his career as Asst. Yard Master, Yard Master, and Brakeman, before retiring in July of 1990 as a Conductor. On July 14, 1956, he married the love of his life, Alma Jeanne Hall, and together they had five children. Dick was a longstanding communicant of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, a life member of the Elks, Secretary Treasurer of the U.T.U., a member of the Seminoe Boat Club, and the Knights of Columbus. Most importantly, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Survivors include his brother, Ed (Barbara) Nealon of Aubrey, TX; four daughters: Mary (Jim) Penland of Rawlins, Anna (Pat)Crank of Cheyenne, Louise (Jack) Mousseau of Arvada, CO, and Judy (Rick) Huch of Oro Valley, AZ; son, Pat (Cleo) Nealon of Rawlins; grandchildren: Kobi and Adam Penland, Abbi (TJ) Forwood, Jerry, Zach, and Noah Crank, Camille and Spencer Mousseau, Sean and Ryan Huch; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Alma Jeanne; a daughter, Susan; his parents; two brothers: Jack and Francis; and two sisters: Mary Claire and Monica.
