Refugio Martinez

Refugio "Ruby" Martinez, 89, of Rawlins passed away Nov. 22, 2017. She was born July 4, 1928 in Mora, NM to parents Fedelina (Maes) and Alfonso Martinez. Refugio had spent the majority of her life as a devoted homemaker and was a communicant of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Rawlins. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening and cooking. Survivors include children, Vangie (Donald) Lucero, Rosemary (Keith) Blair, Jesse (Pauline) Martinez, Pablin (Joy) Martinez, Margaret (Chuck) Blodgett, Gloria (Randy) Robinson and Eloisa Martinez; sister, Esther Trammell; brother, Nestor Martinez; 16 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Pablin Martinez, Sr.; son, Richard Martinez; and grandchildren, Yvonne Wooderson, David Blair and Gerald Sisneros. A Vigil Service with recitation of the Rosary will be held on Wed. Nov. 29, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thurs. Nov. 30, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Father Sam Hayes will be the Celebrant. Pallbearers will be Jesse Martinez, Jr., Timmy Martinez, Ivan Martinez, Paul Blodgett, Brian Gemelli and Dorin Blodgett. Honorary Pallbearers will be Karen Cozort, Donna Lucero, Kimberly Jones, Heather Taylor, Shannon Martinez, Larissa Pena, Carri Schutterle, Cassandra Gier, Traci Martinez and Sara Martinez. Interment will follow in the Rawlins Cemetery.
