Randolph(Randy) Gomez passed away at Memorial Hospital of Carbon County on September 29, 2013 surrounded by those he loved. He was born January 15, 1963 in Alamosa, CO to parents Alonzo J. Gomez and Mary Velarde. He moved with his family to Rawlins in 1980. He married Linda Martinez in 1989 and the couple had three children. Randy was an awesome mechanic, loved playing the guitar and singing Spanish music, and enjoyed spending time outdoors with his family and friends. Randy loved the 49ers and was never without a story or joke. Abbey, his only grand child was the light of his life. Most of all he loved watching his children play sports. He will be remembered as a kind, loving person who always had a smile. He was preceded in death by his Grandparents, several Aunts and Uncles, and his brother Tony. Randy is survived by his wife Linda, his three children, Jasmine, Jacob, and Jonathan; and grand-daughter Abbey Scriven, as well as his parents Alonzo and Mary. Also surviving are brothers; Alonzo M. Gomez, Damian (Jennifer) Gomez, Johnny (Katie) Gomez; and sisters Theresa (Ike) Brown, Mary Martinez, and Sadie (Ernie) Martinez, all of Rawlins; and Victoria Evans and Jolene Gomez of Montana. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. A vigil with recitation of the Rosary will be held Tuesday, October 1 at 7:00 pm, followed on Wednesday, October 2, at 10:00 am by a Mass of Christian Burial. Both will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Father Sam Hayes will be the celebrant.
