Ralph Penman completed his life's journey after 94 years on June 28, 2017. Ralph was born February 28, 1923, to George Willoby and Pamela Eva Tate Penman in Hanna, Wyoming. Ralph was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Ralph grow up in Hanna, Wyoming, where he developed life time friendships. He was a great student of the history of his beloved small tight knit mining community. He had been interviewed by book authors, the local and area news media as well as a television documentary. He graduated from Hanna High School. Within a year Ralph entered WWII as a Gunner on an Anti-aircraft mobile unit. He was part of the 104th Infantry, assigned the 555th Division. He spent the next four years in Europe, serving his country. Every year following the end of WWII, the 555th met on Memorial Weekend. While home on furlough, Ralph married his high school sweetheart, Lois Winifred Scott on May 04, 1944. During his deployment, a son, Kenneth Brian Penman Sr. was born. Following Ralph's return from the service, the couple made their home in Medicine Bow, Wyoming. During this time, a second son blessed their marriage, Curtis Lee Penman. Following the closure of the Hanna coal mines, Ralph and Lois moved their family to Rawlins in 1953. Ralph owned and operated a service station and served as a purchasing agent for the Arch Mineral Coal Company. Ralph served in several service organizations throughout his life. You could say that service to others was his life. Ralph was an avid Rawlins High School Fan. He has been attending these events for the past 63 years. He was awarded the "Outlaw Forever" in 2016. Ralph's beloved wife, Lois passed away in 1991. In 1993, Ralph met and married Juanita Park. After Juanita passed away, Ralph continued to live in Rawlins. Ralph loved being in the country, whether it was fly-fishing, hunting, camping, or providing free hunting guide service to individuals who called to inquire about the Carbon County. Ralph is survived by his son, Curtis and wife, Peggy Penman of Rawlins; daughter-in-law, Sheri Penman of Sun City, AZ; grandchildren, Scott and Annette Penman of Rawlins, Jeff and Karen Penman of Ogden, UT, Monty and Jessica Penman of Rawlins, Kerry Ann and Matt Gaines of Midway, UT, Amy and Justin Bentsen of Rawlins, Jim and Jessica Penman of Pullman, WA, Floyd Penman of Montana and Susie Penman of San Diego, CA; 20 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wives, Lois Penman and Juanita Penman; parents; son, Kenneth Brian Penman Sr.; and grandsons, Kenneth Brian, Jr. and Robert Penman. The life of Ralph Floyd Penman will be celebrated on Friday, July 7, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, located at 117 East Kendrick St., Rawlins, WY. Family prayer will take place 12:00 p.m. at the church. Bishop Matt Arnold will be conducting.
