Phil Samora

Phil Samora Jr., of Rawlins, passed away Feb. 1, 2013, in Cheyenne. He was born on June 25 1939 in Garcia Colorado, to Filimon and Elva (Segura) Samora. He attended school in Colorado and moved to Rawlins at the age of fourteen where he began working at the Adam's restaurant. He then went to work at the Luxus Café where he met his wife Julia Archuleta where she was working as a waitress. They married on April 27, 1957 at the age the 17 and together had four children and raised a granddaughter. Phil worked many years for Teleprompter, Art's Plumbing and Heating, Union Pacific Railroad and while he was retired he enjoyed working at the Wyoming Frontier Prison. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping with his wife children and family. He loved spending time with all of his grandchildren. Phil also enjoyed gambling. Phil is survived by his children Jesse(Elaine) Samora, Janice Samora, Manuel(Petra) Samora, Johnny(Mary) Samora, granddaughter JulieAnn Samora, 11 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, three brothers, three sisters, numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, cousins, nephews, and nieces. He is preceded in death by his wife Julia (Archuleta) Samora His parents Filimon and Elva Samora, his father and mother- in- law Steve and Mary C Archuleta and grandson Robert Bustos Jr. and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. A Wake Service with recitation of the Rosary will be held on Tues. Feb. 5, 2013, at 7:00 p.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wed. Feb. 6, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's with Father Sam Hayes as the Celebrant. Interment will follow in the Rawlins Cemetery. Pallbearers include Philip Vigil Jr., Dean Samora, Derrick Archuleta Sr., Joey Archuleta, Matthew Zamora, Eric Li. Honorary pallbearers include Jesse Samora Jr. Robert Bustos, Jr., and Cain Samora.
