Patricia “Pat” Massey, resident of Rawlins, Wyoming passed away peacefully at her residence on October 9th, 2024, at the age of 84 years.
Pat was born on October 15th, 1939 in St. Louis, Missouri to Philip Neal and Melba (Laurent) Neal. She was the youngest of 4 children. Pat married to Larry Massey on June 11th, 1961 and had two daughters together, Sherri and Shannon. Pat and Larry divorced in 1973.
Pat remarried Tom Strong who she met while working at Pontiac Motors and acquired two step-children, Tommy and Chrissy. They moved to Wyoming and later divorced and Pat moved back to Michigan until 2010, when Pat decided she wanted to come back to Wyoming.
Pat was proud of her work history as a skilled trades and assembly line employee at Pontiac Motors in Pontiac Michigan. She also worked at the Collection Center, in Rawlins, as a receptionist/secretary in debt collection after her time at Pontiac Motors until retirement. Pat loved hunting in her younger years and loved the mountains. Pat especially loved her trips to family property at Elk Mountain.
Pat dearly loved animals, especially her dog Harley, and cats Barney and Precious. They were the joys of her life. After retiring, she enjoyed volunteering at Pet Partners of Carbon County. Pat spent many hours making signs, attending and setting up adopt-a-thons to try and give animal a good home.
Pat will be sadly missed by her family and friends at Cathy Gardens. She was a familiar face at Cathy Gardens and you could find her up front working puzzles and visiting. Pat thoroughly enjoyed listening to the life stories of her friends and meeting new residents.
Pat is survived by Daughter Sherri (Massey) King and husband Jim from Rawlins WY. Grandson Justin Patterson and wife Kamie from Rawlins and granddaughter Ashley Patterson from Modesto, CA.
Daughter Shannon Massey of Adrian MI. Grandsons London Massey from Milo, MI, Trent Marshall from Saginaw, MI and granddaughter Amanda Marshall from Milo MI.
Pat had 5 great-grandchildren including MaKenlee, Kale and Libby Patterson from Rawlins and Ulysses and Avianna Marshall from Milo, MI.
Pat was proceeded in death by her parents and step-father Glen McConnell whom she dearly loved and admired.
A Celebration of Life will be planned for a later date tentatively in December, at the Cathy Gardens Victoria Room.
