Myrtle Alice (Hirsch) Boggs, 89, of Rawlins, passed away Dec. 3, 2013, at her residence. She was born Aug. 5, 1924, in Avalon, PA to parents Huldah Lena (Zurcher) and William Albert Hirsch. After graduation from High School in 1943, she moved to Riverside, CA and began working for the War Department at March Field near Riverside, CA and remained there for the duration of World War II. She later worked as a telephone operator for the Bell System. She met her husband, Harold J. Boggs in Riverside, CA, where they were married on Nov. 2, 1952. Following his honorable discharge from the Air Force, they relocated to Nebraska and later to Wyoming. She will forever be remembered as an outstanding seamstress, quilter, gardener, straightshooter, wife, mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons: Peter Brian and Matthew Scott; and by her husband, Harold. Survivors include a son, William (Debbie) Boggs of Rawlins, WY; two daughters: Rebecca (J. Dee) Darnell of Jeffrey City, WY and Suzanne (Eric Anderson) Boggs of Duefringen, Germany; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Carbon County Funeral Home in Rawlins. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2014, at 12:00 noon, in the Rawlins Cemetery. A reception will follow at the First United Methodist Church in Rawlins. Donations in Mrs. Boggs' memory may be made to the charity of your choice.
