Mary V. Santistevan, 71, of Rawlins passed away Jan. 17, 2016 following a lengthy illness. She was born Oct. 6, 1944 in Amalia, NM to parents Eliu Santistevan and Pauline Deherrera Sanchez. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Mon. Jan. 25, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with Father Sam Hayes as the Celebrant. Interment will follow in the Rawlins Cemetery. Mary attended school in Rock Springs, WY and had worked as a waitress and laundry worker. She enjoyed traveling, politics and doing crafts. As a young lady she was an avid golfer, having won several tournaments. Mary is remembered as a loving and caring character. She had a unique sense of style and lived her life her way. Survivors include her daughter, Rubynne (Daniel) Farmer of Rapid City, SD; four grandchildren, Lacey, Stacey, Shasta and Zane; four brothers, Geno Santistevan of Los Lunas, NM, Sam and Larry Sanchez of Rock Springs, WY and James Sanchez of Rawlins; three sisters, Merlin Martinez of Cheyenne, WY and Rose (De Bari) Martinez and Vicky Sanchez of Rawlins; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Lillian Sapp.
