Retired Marine Corps Lt. Colonel Mark Pesognelli pass away in his sleep on December 21st, 2022. He was born in McKeesport, Pennsylvania to Rita and Jack and was the older brother of his sister Joanie. His curiosity for exploration came from a swing set in a playground up the hill behind his house. He could see across town and past the horizon, and his wanderlust came from that view. Mark lived a full life. He had a strong faith in God. He served his country proudly for 21 years as a Marine. Then he continued his service to his community as a Master Mason, Knight Templar, Nursing Home Administrator, and a dedicated member of the North Platte Valley Hospital Planning and Development Team in Saratoga Wyoming. Mark is a man with a million stories worth telling, though because of the nature of his work, seldom have ever been. When he carved out leisure time he enjoyed rafting, fishing, hunting all in the presence of his dearest friends. Though his retirement was brief, it allowed him the time he wanted to meditate, complete important works of writing, and to build strong bonds with his son Ian. He will be missed, and we hope remembered by all that knew him.
He is survived by his son Ian, his Sister Joan, her children Nicole and Paul and his faithful dog Sabot. He was preceded in Death by his Parents Rita and Jack. The family would like to thank all of Mark's friends who have helped his family following his death, and would like to specifically mention Howard Hill, Elizabeth Hilliard, Karl Rude, and Doug Searcy.
Funeral Services will be held at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Saratoga, WY on Saturday January 21st at 10:30 a.m. A reception to celebrate his memory will follow at "The Rustic" on Bridge Street everyone is welcome to attend and share what stories they are allowed to honor his service, memory, and humor.
Mark's final internment will be held at the National Cemetery in Cheyenne in the spring, the date to be published on Mark's Facebook Page.
