Judith Saulcy

Judith Jean Saulcy, 74, passed away August 18, 2012 at her Encampment, Wyoming home with family at her side. Judy was born January 21, 1938 in Ft. Collins, Colorado. She grew up in Montana, Nebraska, South Dakota and Colorado. She graduated from Loveland, Colorado High School and earned her BS at Colorado State University 1960 where she was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. After graduation, she ranched and raised her family on the upper North Platte near Encampment. There, she was able to pursue her lifelong interest in the land, in flowers and in gardening. She was a proud member and past president of the Encampment Dirt Diggers Garden Club and Snowy Range Cattlewomen. Her zest for business and community service was never ending. She was a founding member and director of what is now the Saratoga Platte Valley Chamber of Commerce. Judy also served on the steering committee of the Wyoming Business Alliance and was especially proud of their early efforts in promotion of what became the Wyoming Hathaway scholarship programs. Judy was a 35 year Wyoming real estate broker who operated family-owned real estate and development companies in Carbon and Albany Counties. She was honored as Wyoming's 1995 Realtor of the Year and served ten years as a trustee of the Wyoming Realtors Political Action Committee. Judy was committed to active engagement in the political process. She served as a local precinct person, county secretary, president of Platte Valley Republican Women and Wyoming Republican Women and as honorary secretary of Wyoming's 1994 Republican State Convention. Judy was a long time member of the Encampment Presbyterian Church where she served as Elder and Deacon, and a member of the Presbyterian Mariners Club. She was a former member of the Platte Valley Medical Board and Encampment Community Choir; and a member of P.E.O. Sisterhood, Chapter A, Rawlins, Wyoming. Judy is survived by her husband of 53 years, Bill, their son Rick (Becky) of Loveland CO, their daughter Sara and granddaughter, Ashley of Casper WY, her brother Joe Foreman (Laurie) of Loveland CO, and her beloved extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, Eleanor Puckett Foreman, and dad, Willard Foreman. A celebration of life service will be held at the Encampment Presbyterian Church at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, August 28, 2012 with a fellowship reception following at the Encampment Opera House. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Encampment Presbyterian Church 82325-0745, the American Cancer Society, or other charity of choice.
