Joseph Sandoval

Joseph M. "Melvin" Sandoval, 67, of Rawlins, WY passed away Sept. 8, 2015. He was born Jan. 10, 1948 in Rock Springs, WY to parents Eufelia (Archuleta) and Telesfor Sandoval. A Vigil Service with recitation of the Rosary will be held on Sunday, Sept. 13, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, Sept. 14, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Father Sam Hayes will be the Celebrant. Interment will follow in the Rawlins Cemetery. Pallbearers will be John J. Bergquist, Michael Bergquist, Jared Sandoval, Jordan Sandoval, Katy Gonzales, Dakota Gonzales, Josiah Sandoval, John E. Bergquist and Ben Gomez. Honorary Pallbearers will be Teddy Sandoval, Leo Sandoval, Jody Sandoval and Virgil Lopez. Melvin graduated from Rawlins High School in 1966, the same year he began his career with Union Pacific Railroad. He retired on March 1, 2008, after 42 years of railroad service. He is remembered for his love and knowledge of cars and for being an avid Dodge owner and enthusiast. His life was a blessing and his memories a treasure. He will forever be loved beyond words and missed beyond measure. Survivors include his loving and devoted wife, Vaiola Sandoval; children, Nanette Bergquist (Dean Morris), Joe Sandoval (Jennifer Mead) and Arlene Sandoval, all of Cheyenne, WY; seven grandchildren, John Bergquist, Michael Bergquist, Jared Sandoval, Jordan Sandoval, Josiah Sandoval, Katy Gonzales and Dakota Gonzales; three great-grandchildren, Brylee Kenworthy and Trystan and Myla Gonzales; siblings, Teddy Sandoval of Lander, WY and Leo (Eva) Sandoval, Jody (Debbie) Sandoval and Wilma (Virgil) Lopez, all of Rawlins, WY; and numerous nieces, nephews, God-children, cousins, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and in-laws, Gilbert and Agapita Martinez.
