Jose G. Martinez

Jose G. Matinez, resident of Rawlins, Wyoming, passed away on January 4, 2024 at the Wyoming Medical Center in Casper at the age of 74 years.

            Jose was born on March 16, 1949 in Penasco, New Mexico, the son of Matilda and Eloy Martinez. He married Baudilia Martinez on December 27, 1973. He was employed by U.P.R.R. for over 30 years.

            He was a beloved true outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and spending time with friends and family.

            Jose will be sadly missed by his wife, Baudilia Martinez; his children, Gilbert Martinez, Jr. (Michelle), Diana Martinez, Felix Martinez, Marcus Martinez (Robin), Connie Gurule, Ramona Gurule (Cesario), Ivan Gurule (Debbie), Martin Gurule (Shelia) and Elizabeth Colunga; grandchildren Joe, Liam, Christian, Jacob, Katie, Toby, Brayden, Dominick, Tyler, Alisha, Raven, Julian, Jesse, Sara, Stephen, Ashley, Isaiah, Isaac, Karlee and Deven; 11 great-grandchildren; brother, Guillermo Martinez and many other family members, friends and his beloved pets Ella and Thomas.

            He was preceded in death by his mother, Matilda Martinez, his father Eloy Martinez, brothers Angel Martinez and Hilio Martinez, sisters Selfa Brito and Jenny Fresquez, and grandsons David Gurule and Trent Lovato.

            A Vigil Prayer Service will be held on Monday, January 8, 2024 at 6:00 PM at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, January 9, 2024.  Interment will follow at Rawlins Cemetery.

            Memorial donations may be made to his wife, Baudilia Martinez.
