On January 19, 2017, John Daniels passed away at his home in Encampment, WY. John was born on September 22, 1957, to Wanda Makinen Daniels and Ralph C. Daniels. He graduated in 1976 from Hanna-Elk Mountain High School where he participated in numerous sports. He was a life-long resident of Carbon County and loved hunting, fishing, all things out doors, gardening, and making his own wine. John always had a smile on his face and took great joy in teasing his family, especially his nieces and nephews. He was retired and spent much of his time reading and spending time with his family. He is survived by his mother, Wanda Daniels of Elk Mountain, father Ralph (Madelon) Daniels of Torrington, brother Jeffrey (Newt) Daniels of Rawlins, sister Missy Cook of Cheyenne, grandmother Lyle Makinen of Saratoga, niece Amy (Alex) Provstgaard of Battlement Mesa, CO, nephew Kyle Cook of Rawlins, niece Tara Cook of Cheyenne, step children Jacquelyn (Rice) Sanders of Laramie, Heather (Rice) Niesent of Milliken, CO, and Josh Rice of Laramie, and a large extended family. He was proceeded in death by grandfathers Buster Makinen and Ralph Daniels Sr., grandmother Beth Daniels, and great nephew Matthew Hafer. John never met a stranger, always had a smile on his face, and was always quick to bring humor into any situation. He was loved beyond words and will be greatly missed by his friends and family. Memorial services are being planned for a later date.
