Hiram Cebert Golden Jr., born on May 31, 1959, in Rawlins, Wyoming, passed away suddenly on July 28, 2024, in the mountains of Wyoming. He left this world in his favorite place, doing what he loved best - spending time with his family and playing in the woods.
Hiram was raised in Rawlins, WY, the oldest of three children. At just five months old, he traveled to Germany, where his father was stationed. His adventurous spirit emerged early, riding motorcycles by the age of eight, joining the Boy Scouts, and embarking on numerous adventures throughout his childhood.
A man of many passions, Hiram found joy in playing guitar and singing, riding motorcycles and snowmobiles, and spending time with his beloved family, especially his grandchildren. Hiram enjoyed collecting guns, archery, and tinkering with electronics. A longtime computer nerd, he also loved woodworking, building projects, playing board games, and reading. He was always working on a car and listening to rock ‘n roll.
Hiram was deeply committed to the things that he cared about. He married his high school sweetheart, Katharine, and they shared 45 wonderful years together. Hiram served his country with honor in the Air Force for 12 years, including a tour in South Korea. His faith was unwavering, and he served his church as a deacon, treasurer, and worship leader.
Family was everything to Hiram. He leaves behind a large, loving family, including his wife Katharine, his children Travis (and wife Lori) of Rawlins, WY, and Elizabeth (and husband Chris) of Ashland, OR. He is also survived by his mother Dorothy, siblings Kerry (and wife Kim) and Becki, and his cherished grandchildren Samantha and Karsen. Hiram is reunited with his father Hiram Cebert Sr., his son Hiram Donald, mother-in-law Cleta, and other dear family members who have passed.
Hiram’s life was filled with love, humor, and service. He wrote poems for his future wife while they were dating, a testament to his romantic and creative spirit. Known for his irrepressible sense of humor, Hiram always had a joke and a smile ready.
Hiram Cebert Golden Jr. will be deeply missed, but his legacy of love, faith, and laughter will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
