Glenn Harold Penland died on Dec. 26 at the age of 85. He was born April 19, 1928 in Baggs, Wyoming to Glenn C. & Elizabeth (Jesmer) Penland. The family moved to Rawlins in 1939. He graduated from Rawlins High School in 1946, then attended the University of Wyoming for two years. Harold married his high school sweetheart, Elizabeth Busillo on August 21, 1948. He worked at the Sinclair Refinery until 1951, then joined his father as manager of the Rawlins Motel & later continued as owner until 1983. In 1971, Harold & Elizabeth purchased Rasmusson Furniture from the Rasmusson family. In 1993, they retired and enjoyed 15 years spending winters in Arizona. Harold was an avid hunter, golfer & fisherman and had been a member of the Shriners, Elks, Lions, and was a director of Westland Federal Savings & Loan. His family will love & cherish his memory forever. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth, their four children David (Julia), Jane (Steve) Perry, Jim (Mary), and Bill (Leann), eight grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and nephew Gary (Sherry) Swanson. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Eileen, nephew Steve Swanson and brothers-in-law Gene Boatright, Bob Heatherington and Reynold Swanson. Cremation has taken place and services will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
