Harlan "Patch" Patchen, age 87, of Everett, WA, died on Nov. 28, 2013. Born in Pueblo, CO in 1926, he was one of three children. He served his country as a member of the Coast Guard and later as an officer in the Coast Guard Auxiliary. After his years of service, he moved to Rawlins. There he met and married Marian Cullen. He started a sheet metal and roofing business where he worked throughout Wyoming for more than 30 years, becoming one of the top roofing contractors in the state. During his years in Rawlins, he was a member of the Knights of Columbus, having served as Grand Knight, a board member at St Joseph's Catholic Church, councilman for the City of Rawlins and a founding member of the Junior Chamber of Commerce. And lastly, he was an officer in Rough Riders Snowmobile Club in Wyoming. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, golfing, gardening and snowmobiling with both his family and friends. He had an uncanny ability to make everyone laugh. He never knew a stranger, was always welcoming and would lend a helping hand whenever he could. He always had a song to sing, even if he made up the lyrics. Harlan is survived by his wife of 61 years, Marian Cullen Patchen; children, Sandy Patchen, Susan Patchen, (Barb Cotten), Sally Patchen, (Troy Marshall), Kevin Patchen, (Leslie), Patrick Patchen (Kris) and Mike Patchen (Kelly); nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. The family will gather in Rawlins on July 3, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. for a "Celebration of Life" mass at St Joseph's Church.
