Evangelina "Bang" Lopez, 89, passed from this life to the next, on September 1, 2017, in Cheyenne, WY. She was born on February 15, 1928 in Rawlins, WY to Celso Lopez and Florentina (Hidalgo) Lopez. She lived most of her life in Rawlins, but lived her remaining 5 years in Cheyenne with her daughter. Evangelina graduated from Rawlins High School in 1948. She wanted to be a nurse but wasn't able to attain that goal. However, she took care of many people, nursing them back to health, including her mother. Evangelina worked hard her entire life. She and her siblings helped their mother while growing up during the Depression in very humble circumstances. After high school, while caring for her mother, she worked at Model Cleaners as a silk finisher. When she got married, she became a homemaker; a job she truly loved. She married Antonio B. Lopez on June 24, 1961, in Rawlins, and they shared 38 wonderful years together. To that union a daughter was born. Evangelina loved to laugh and make people laugh, loved to dance, loved to tell family histories, loved to cook, was deeply devoted to her family, loved to serve others, loved her pets, and was a mighty prayer warrior. She was a faithful member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church her entire life, until she moved to Cheyenne. Evangelina had many nicknames: Bang, Benjo, Chunky, Vangie, Eva, and Kid, but she was more. She was Mom, Grandma, G-Lo, Comadre, Sis, MoLaw, Nina, Tia, Friend. All of these names had special meaning and sentiment associated with them. Evangelina had many joys in her life, but her biggest joy was having the opportunity to watch her grandsons grow to become young men. She was especially happy to be able to attend the wedding of her youngest grandson last year. Evangelina is survived by her daughter, Tina Lopez-Smith, "favorite son-in-law", Scott Smith; grandchildren, Dane , Isaac, Zachary (Nichole) Lopez-Smith; sister-in-law, Rita Lopez; nephews, Ray (Mae) Martinez, Max (Lamduan) Martinez; niece, Anna Lee (Ramon) Torres, and many more beloved nieces and nephews; special friends, Sylvia Martinez, Shirley Martinez, Betty Smith, and Frances Ortega; and Compadres, Denny and Charlotte Smith. A special thank you to her favorite CNA, Glenda Dilbeck. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents; siblings, Salvador Lopez, Catherine Martinez, Evangelina (infant) Lopez, Alfred Lopez, Daniel Lopez, Maria Jesusita "Mariquita" Lopez, two half-brothers, and two half-sisters; nephews, Christopher Lopez and Daren Martinez; and brother-in-law, Leonard Martinez.
