At the height of the depression/dust bowl years, the family moved to Dickinson where she attended public school during her teen years. Edith married Joseph G. Donnis, son of a neighboring farmer and friend of the family, on July 9, 1935. While in Dakota, two daughters were born; Connie Jean and Gladys Evette. Shortly before the end of WWII, the family moved to Sacramento, CA where Deborah Jo was born. Edith cherished tending her flower and vegetable gardens, sewing and crocheting. She also participated in many VFW functions in the Sacramento area with daughter, Connie and her husband, James, who was a veteran and held many offices in the VFW. In addition to her many hobbies she enjoyed several years working part-time during tax season at the tender age of 70. Edith resided in Sacramento until 2009, when she moved to daughter Evette's home in Elk Mountain, WY. She especially enjoyed visiting and eating at the Senior Center and participating in the Red Hat Society activities. Edith was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joseph; daughter, Deborah; sister, Pearl Lenhart; and son-in-law, James Dobbs. She is survived by daughters, Connie Jean Dobbs of Sacramento, CA and Evette and husband, Pat Eastman of Elk Mountain, WY; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild throughout the states.
