Doris Marie Schanck, born on April 7, 1927, in McFadden, Wyoming, peacefully departed this life on February 16, 2025, at the Rawlins Rehab and Wellness Center. A beloved figure in her community and a cherished matriarch to her family, Doris exemplified qualities that will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her.
Doris was a proud graduate of McFadden High School, finishing her education in 1945. She went on to co-own Dick's Services in Lamont, Wyoming, alongside her husband, Harry Richard Schanck. Together, they not only built a successful business but also ranched, creating a legacy of hard work and dedication that her family continues to admire. Her commitment to her career was matched only by her devotion to her family, which she considered her proudest accomplishment.
Known for her intelligence, honesty, and amazing memory, Doris was a great listener and a loving, wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She greatly enjoyed reading and always cherished the moments spent with her family, particularly the joyous Christmas Eve gatherings that became a treasured tradition.
Doris is survived by her loving family, including Richard (Jennifer) Schanck, Charolette (John) Nodolf, Michael Schanck, and Betty Bridger. She also leaves behind a legacy of ten grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren who will carry her memory forward in their hearts.
Doris is preceded in death by her husband, Harry Richard Schanck; her son, Harry Schanck; her grandson, Richard Schanck; her granddaughter, Marcy; her parents, Marilla and Louis Logan; her daughter-in-law, Kim Schanck; and her siblings, Lou, Jean, Albert, Ralph, Jess, Wess, and Bob.
The impact Doris had on her family and her unwavering spirit will be remembered fondly by all who were fortunate enough to share their lives with her. Plans for a memorial service to honor her memory will be determined at a later date.
