Donald Leon Mortensen

     Donald Leon Mortensen, 86, of Rawlins WY. died November 10th, 2023.  Named and known by some of his friends as “Ducky” and others would call him “Mort”, he would always answer to either. He passed away at his daughters’ home battling Alzheimer’s. 

     He is survived by his wife Penny, of 68 years, his children Mishell and husband Dan Howard of Rawlins, Troy and his wife Tammy Mortensen of Rawlins and Susan Mortensen of Nebraska.  He is also survived by his six grandchildren, Chris Howard, Tyler Mortesen and his wife Heather, Kevin Howard, Sean Mortensen and his wife Amanda, Sarah Rodabaugh and husband Trevor Kraft  and Landon Rodabaugh and wife Cheyenne.  He has 6 great grandchildren Da’sha Munoz and husband Gabriel,  Jadyn Mortensen, Wyatt and Riley Mortensen, Matthew Rodabaugh and Miles Kraft. He has one great-great grandchild Psalm Munoz. He is also survived by his sister Leta Mortnesen along with many nieces and nephews. 

     Don worked in the auto body profession for 70 years until he retired in 1996 and sold it Troy.   He loved fishing, deer and elk hunting.  He genuinely treasured outdoor activities including snowmobiling, snow skiing, or water-skiing.  You could find him during the winter at his cabin in Medicine Bow Forest or in the summer at his lake house at Seminoe Reservoir.  He also found joy in going to Las Vegas or Reno with friends and family.  He treasured his time when socializing with his friends over coffee or beer, depending on the time of day.  He would do just about anything for anyone if needed.  He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.   In lieu flowers, please make a donation to Wyoming Game and Fish or York Adopt-A-Pet. 

     Please join the family for a life celebration on Saturday November 18^th, 2023 from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm at Bucks Sports Bar. The side door will be opened for all to enter.
