David Nicholas Marquith passed away after a long bout with heart disease on December 29, 2023. He was surrounded by three generations of family at his son’s home in Tampa, Florida.
David (Nick) Marquith was a long-time resident of Rawlins, Wyoming, graduating from Rawlins High in 1965. Majoring in Fine Arts at Casper College, Nick graduated in 1967. In 1968, Marquith entered the U.S. Army where he served as a Special Agent in Army Intelligence, Criminal Investigator in CID and a Forensic Photographer.
After serving 23 years in the Army, Nick retired to Monument, Colorado, and entered higher education as a professor of Criminal Justice and directing Police Academies. After completing 13 years as a Criminal Justice Instructor at Sheridan College in Sheridan, Wyoming, Dave retired for good and renewed his passion in art, photography, and poker. He showcased and sold his framed photographs at local art shows in Colorado and Wyoming and currently has artwork on display at Sheridan College. He and his wife enjoyed their weekly visits to the casinos at Cripple Creek, Colorado.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother David Marquith and Muriel Houser (Marquith), and his step-father, Galen Houser. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Judy Marquith (Schmidt); his sisters Tandie (John) Bey of Hot Springs, SD and Gaydene (Nick) Klimis of Griffith, IN; his sons Jason (Jodi) Marquith of Leesburg, VA, and Damian (Denise) Marquith of Wesley Chapel, FL; 3 grandchildren, 1 great granddaughter and numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held Saturday, January 13 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Casada Funeral Home 702 W. Walnut St. in Rawlins, Wyoming. A private burial for family will take place following visitation at Rawlins Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association in memory of David Marquith.
