Darrell Stubbs

Darrell L. Stubbs, 75, passed away on October 8 at the Cheyenne Regional Medical Center after a brief illness. Born November 19, 1940 to Norris Stubbs and Evelyn Douglas Stubbs, Darrell lived in Rawlins his entire life. He graduated Rawlins High School in 1959 and attended Price College in Utah on a basketball scholarship. He then attended the University of Wyoming before returning to Rawlins to marry Kathleen Laney and begin his family. That union was blessed with children Noranne (1961) and Douglas (1963). In 1972 Darrell married the love of his life, Janet Engstrom, and they enjoyed a 42-year marriage until Janet's passing in 2014. Darrell was proud to be the Carbon County Assessor for almost four decades before retiring to enjoy vacations with Janet which included cruises, major sporting events including Super Bowls and Final Fours, and many profitable trips to Wendover. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Diane Hoese. He is survived by his children Doug (Ann) Stubbs, Noranne Lenox, stepchildren Dick (Holly McConnell) Pate, Colleen (Dana) Angell, and grandchildren Megan and Lincoln Lenox, Griffen and Bailey Pate, Sam and Charlie Stubbs, and nephew Jason (Jenny) Hoese. At Darrell's request, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will take place on Saturday, October 15 at the United Methodist Church in Rawlins at 2:00 pm. The family will host a visitation beginning at 1:00 at the church. Interment will follow at the Rawlins Cemetery. An informal celebration of Darrell's life will take place afterward at T'Keg. In lieu of flowers, Darrell requested that donations be made to T'Keg For The Cure, c/o Kathleen Johnson, 608 14th St, Rawlins, WY 82301 or the charity of the donor's choice.
