Carlota Romero, resident of Rawlins, Wyoming passed away on Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at the Rawlins Health and Rehab at the age of 91 years.
Carlota was born on October 27, 1930 in Mora, New Mexico to Gilbert and Victoria Maes. In her early 20’s she moved to Wyoming with the love of her life, Lorenzo “Peanuts” Romero. She worked for the Rawlins School District for many years as a cook. Carlota loved kids so upon retirement, she worked part time at the Child Development Center. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends and making sure that nobody went hungry because she loved to cook.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lorenzo Romero; her parents Gilbert and Victoria; and a brother, Michael Louis Maes. She is survived by her son, Tony Romero and his wife Julie of Rawlins, WY; one grandson, Tony P. Romero and his wife Veronica of Cheyenne, WY; two great-grandchildren, Jaden and Breeana; and one sister, Sarah Trujilo of Pueblo, CO.
A Rosary will be held on Monday, January 3, 2022, at 7:00 PM at the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated of Tuesday, January 4, 2022, at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph’s with Father Sam Hayes officiating. Interment will follow at Rawlins Cemetery. Due to COVID, there will be no reception following the interment.
