Carl V. "Buddy" Matson, longtime Carbon County resident, passed away January 23, 2012, at the age of 91. He was born December 25, 1920, to Leander and Ollie Matson. His early years were spent on the family homestead 30 miles north of Hanna. In 1960, the family sold the ranch and moved to Rawlins, where he was employed by the Wyoming Stockgrowers Association as a Brand Inspector. He retired in 1990 after 30 years of doing a job he thoroughly enjoyed. He was an active member of the Masonic groups and Eastern Star. He is survived by his partner, Lila Boles; daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Doug Karns; grand-daughters: Holly and Vance Johnson, Andi Karns and "John" Shawn Hemeyer, and Shauna Karns. great grand-daughters: Brittany and Brandi Scott; great grandson: Tavian Stanec; and "Papa Buddy's L'il Prize Fighter", Layne Hemeyer. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marion Matson; brother, Herb Matson; sister, Ruth Sullivan; and daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Bob Michaud. Buddy enjoyed and lived life to the fullest from the day he was born till the day he died, he didn't know a stranger. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Rawlins Senior Center - Shrine Transportation Fund or the charity of your choice.
