Bonnie S. Edwards, age 74 of Rawlins, Wyoming passed away at her home on Sunday, November 24, 2024.
Bonnie was born on October 15, 1950, in International Falls, Minnesota, to Ardys (Warnes) and Oliver Growette. She earned her bachelor’s degree in biology and chemistry from St. Cloud University in 1973.
Bonnie then moved to Wyoming where she met the love of her life, Richard K. Edwards. They were married on May 1, 1976, and together built a beautiful life filled with love, adventure, and family.
Bonnie had a fulfilling career as a medical technologist at Memorial Hospital of Carbon County (MHCC) and later as a substitute teacher for Carbon County School District 1. She cherished her time in both professions, finding immense joy in her coworkers and the students she taught.
A lover of the outdoors, Bonnie spent her summers fishing for walleye (not slimers!) at Seminoe Reservoir, her favorite pastime as well as her favorite meal. While she preferred short trips, she was known to stay out on the water for hours if the fish were biting, turning those moments into cherished “marathon” fishing adventures. The 4th of July was a special tradition, spent at the lake with family and friends, watching fireworks at the boat club.
She spent a lifetime enjoying the outdoors from riding motorcycles to ATVs to snowmobiles, but also enjoyed sitting around a campfire with her family in the mountains. She especially loved spending time at the family cabin, a place she treasured and worked hard to make a haven for her loved ones.
She enjoyed giving back to her community by volunteering with various organizations. One of her favorite activities was wrapping gifts with the Elks, an event she eagerly looked forward to every year.
Bonnie is survived by her devoted husband Richard Edwards; her children Erin Edwards and Mike Edwards; and her granddaughter, Aliya Edwards. She is also survived by her three sisters, Connie (Alex) Gross, Lynne (Duane) Courteau, and Debbie Growette.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, Ardys and Oliver Growette.
A memorial service to honor Bonnie will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at the Rawlins Elks lodge at 11:00 AM. Bonnie’s family invites everyone to join them in celebrating her incredible life and the legacy of love and joy she leaves behind.
