Austin E. Bartlett, 88, of Rawlins, passed away April 3, 2013. He was born April 24, 1924, in Eureka, UT to parents Florence May (Vivian) and Jess Bartlett. He grew up in Wyoming and graduated from Rawlins High School in 1942. He entered the U.S. Army on March 6, 1943. He served during World War II in the Western Pacific Theater, was awarded a Bronze Star, and was honorably discharged on December 28, 1945. On June 19, 1948, he was married to Martha Jane Wenger. Following his military service, he worked as a welder for the Sinclair Pipeline for 40 years before retiring in 1986. His hobbies included welding, horseshoe art, hunting and fishing, hunting arrowheads and gardening. He is remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. Survivors include his wife of over 64 years, Martha J. Bartlett; three children: Jess (Debbie) Bartlett, Gary (Lori) Bartlett and Linda (Garry) Engstrom; a sister, Marylou (Doug) Ellsworth; four grandchildren: Chad (Amanda) Engstrom, Travis (& fiancee', Shenah Thomas) Bartlett, Brad (Gwynn) Bartlett and Casey Bartlett; and three great-grandchildren: Eric Engstrom, Carstan Bartlett and Aspyn Bartlett. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers. No services are scheduled at this time.
