Arturo ‘Art’ Archuleta was called to our Lord’s side on Friday, March 29th, 2024. Art was born on June 4th, 1931 in Amalia, New Mexico and during his long life, our dad never lost sight of one guiding principle: love of family above all else.
Art was a Veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S. Army from 1949-1953 as part of the 1st Cavalry Division, Heavy Mortar crew. He was a recipient of several medals; including a purple heart. He and his wife, Eugenia (Jean), would go on to have six children and live a long and loving life together until her passing on April 2 nd , 2014. Our dad's inner strength guided him through many difficult times and was what his kids could count on to help them throughout life. We should all be so lucky to have the strength, dedication to family, and belief in life everlasting that this man showed throughout his time with us.
Our dad owned and operated Art's Plumbing and Heating for 40 years. During that time, he mentored many family members in the trade and worked on numerous buildings and homes in the community. He always leant a helping-hand and gave what he could to anyone in need, both as a member of the City Council and as a cherished member of the Rawlins community. Art was an active member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and inspired many with his everlasting faith.
Art was preceded in death by his wife Eugenia, son Steve, and his daughter Senida (Cindy). He is survived by his sister Sally (Melvin) Hamilton; brother Frank Archuleta; daughters Barbara Archuleta and Eugenia Renee (Manuel) Martinez; sons Gilbert and Joey Archuleta; granddaughters Juanita (JJ), Stefanie, Jenna, and Kimberly; grandsons Vincent and Victor; great-grandchildren Joseph, Jacob, Rachel, Skye, Eran, and Jasmine; three great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Art had a sense of humor and was care free till the end. We find comfort in that he is at rest and rejoice that he is with his wife and their oldest son and oldest daughter.
A rosary service will be held on Friday, April 5 th at 7p.m. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, April 6th at 10 a.m. Both will be at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church here in Rawlins.
